A Day of LOVE

Things I LOVE about VALENTINE'S DAY:

1) Dressing my love bugs in their heart attire.

2) Making a Valentine Box for school.

3) Getting "Love Letters"

*88Totally saving this for her teenage years
so I can whip it out whenever she gets in a "I hate you mom" mood! :)4) Looking at Wedding Pictures!

Afelope Island...I mean Antelope Island

The sun was shining and our chores were done so we decided to spend a little time together as a family. Kody thought it would be a great idea to visit Antelope Island and was horrified to learn that "I had lived all my life in Utah and have never been to ANTELOPE ISLAND!" (It's not like I lived my whole life in California and had never been to Disney Land).
So we packed up the kids and drove along the causeway out to the Island.
As we drove I remembered why I probably had no desire in the past to visit...you see Antelope Island is a piece of land in the middle of the Great Salt Lake (thought I would share that in case any of you are as shameful as me and have never been) and the salt water tends to be....what's the word...Pungent! Lucky for us it was the winter and the swell wasn't so bad but I think there is an abundance of stench and bugs in the warmer months.

Kody thought it would be like visiting Yellowstone...and well we did see buffalo

but the similarities ended there.
We drove on down to the Fielding Garr Ranch
There was all sorts of old interesting things.

But apparently my children don't appreciate Utah History like they should...maybe when they hit 4th grade.
This is a picture of Kylie after she yelled at Mallory for touching things. I reminded her that I was the mom and it made her SUPER happy! :)

But fortunately there were some fake horses and cattle to sit on,

and a Great Horn Owl to see,
and we actually spotted some "Afelope" far off the road (thanks Tess). FYI, you can spot their "white bums" above the brush.

So the day turned out fine!
But next time I think a certain male (who shall remain nameless) should give my suggestion of "Chuck E Cheese" a little more consideration.

Snow Day..Hooray!

I was starting to feel a little bad that I never let the girls play in the snow at home. So we had some of our little friends over and had a snow day...complete with a little "snow painting."

So glad we did it when we did because the next day it rained and melted all the snow.

90...What an accomplishment!

In January my Grandma Memmott turned 90 years old! What an accomplishment! My grandma is such a great example in my life. She has always bee very passionate about education and was valedictorian of her high school. She went on to Utah State University (my Alma mater) where she met my grandpa. She and my grandpa served three missions together as well. She's done so many great things in her life and really is an example of education, hard work, love, and service!
As she cut her cake she commented, " I have had two great loves in my life my family and my testimony of Jesus Christ!"

Growing Up!

Mallory turned 18months old on Christmas day but we just took her in this week for her checkup. She weighs 21 lbs 4 oz and is 32.8" long. She in the 10% for weight and 90% for height.

Mallory is a prett happy girl and is learning more and more every day.

Now that she no longer drinks bottles she is a very good eater. Her favorite foods are cheese, bananas, and pizza. She has discovered Sesame Street and loves Elmo and Abbey. She is a sweet girl and we love her hugs, kisses, and when she touches foreheads with us~!

Bring on 2011

New Year's Eve is a little tricky once you have kids...but this year the cabin, once again, saved the day. We spent the day playing in the snow and snacking! My sister and I started a 500 piece puzzle...it was a little addicting. We were so pleased with ourselves when we finished!
We played a few games and then lucky for us someone started shooting off fireworks across the lake.
So we counted down, drank some bubbly, and popped off some poppers!

2010 was a great year so I say bring on 2011!

Little Pink Boots

We were excited to get some snow up at the cabin. It was time for our maiden voyage on the snowmobiles. We loaded up the snow mobiles, and drove a little way up Logan Canyon to a spot known as "The Bowl." It was cold...like 8 degrees cold.

Mallory lasted all of 15 minutes...so it was a short voyage to say the least.
We tried again over the holiday break. I was still a little nervous because it was 10 degrees outside. The air was colder than the lake and so there was this cool steam rising off Bear Lake!

But the day was sunny wind with no wind and there was enough snow to snow mobile around the cabin. We had a blast!

We also left some carrots for the wild rabbits that live around the cabin...how did they ever survive without us?

As I was cleaning up all the hats, scarves, mittens, snow pants and coats I saw these...and realized how blessed I am to have these three little pink boot wearers in my life!
