Gettin' Dirty!

Let me start off by saying I really DISLIKE running! But when my sister asked me if I would like to run the dirty dash with her, my other two sisters and some friends I immediately said YES!
We got these nifty socks to show everyone we were a team!
(L-R My sister Laura, niece Taylee, sister Amy, Me, and my sister Becca)
In case your not familiar with this race it is a 5K through MUD!
This is the starting line! Yes the first part is UPHILL in the MUD!
There are tunnels, hay bales, walls to climb, and these nifty mile markers that give you stop and take a picture by (a sneaky way to catch your breath!)

Then you climb to the summit and ride a HUGE SLIP 'n' SLIDE (wish I had a picture).
The last part is deep, nasty mud!

We finished!

And our socks were none the worse for wear...LOL!
The post-game wrap up included freezing showers and some changing in the parking lot! It was a BLAST!

Parade and Para-sailing: Hawaii Day 6

We decided to go para-sailing...'cause hey, we're not getting any younger!

While we were waiting for the boat we got to see a parade in honor of King Kamehameha’s Birthday (the 1st king of Hawaii).

Para-sailing was a BLAST! Gorgeous views and not scary at all!

Later in the day we tried some boogie boarding at Waikiki. It is not as easy as it looks!

some cool cars

Kody informed me that these guys weren't wearing anything under their "skirts"...TMI!

These "Parade Princesses" were a little different than our "Rodeo Queens!

Diamond Head and Some Cruisin': Hawaii Day 5

We hiked Diamond Head! It was about a mile to the edge of the crater's rim. We walked to the trail, ascended 74 steps, went through the 225-foot tunnel and then up another steep 99 steps. Finall we climbed the narrow spiral staircase to the observation deck for some spectacular views! We also got to witness a helicopter rescue off the top of the mountain.

Friday night was our Catamaran dinner Cruise. The food wasn’t impressive and we were really packed together for the dinner but after we ate we spent the rest of the cruise on the upper decks and the view was awesome!

The Harbor: Hawaii Day 4

We visited Pearl Harbor. What an amazing place! So many artifacts and stories! I loved the museum but was so enthralled with everything that I forgot to take pictures. Better than any movie or text book! Then we went on the submarine. I don't know how those men did it. I would've been so claustrophobic and hot. The Arizona was something special...seeing those lists of names really make you grateful for those who serve in the armed forces!

Swapping and Beaching: Hawaii Day 3!

Wednesday-Kody and I are always suckers for free stuff so we signed up for a “Presentation” to get a free Catamaran Dinner Cruise. It wasn’t as bad as I expected and we didn’t sign up for anything so I guess it was worth it. Next we headed to the Swap Meet at Aloha Stadium. We picked up some souvenirs and even did a little haggling:)

We bought the girls some t-shirts, a wooden frog that croaks, necklaces, and some little Hawaiian dresses and lei’s for the girls’ dolls.

We ended the day with some swimming at the Beach. Didn't really take any pictures so I'll just include one I tried to take of us relaxing down at the beach after dinner!
