Princess Gala

All this cold weather was getting us down, but luckily we have some connections...so we attended a special Princess Gala put on by my cousin Shelby (Tangled).
The girls loved getting all dressed up. Kylie was feeling a little old to wear a "princess dress," so a "pretty" dress was chosen instead.

Tessa insisted on some freckles (like she had a t Halloween). Not sure if Rapunzle has freckles but we are sure that once Flynn cut her hair and it turned brown she curled it for special occasions :)

We loved the dancing, the princess parade,

meeting all the princesses,
and eating scrumptious cookies!

Boy do we princesses have it rough!

Fruit What???

Sometimes inspiration strikes in the most unlikely of places...namely the grocery store. Kiwi, bananas, pineapple, and strawberries were all on sale this week. As I loaded all them into my cart I remembered a deliciously fun dessert my mom let me and my friends make for one of my childhood birthdays. FRUIT PIZZA!
I picked up some cookie dough and cool whip to add to the fruit and viola a late night snack the whole family enjoyed!

Spa Night

When we finished tiling around our master bath I promised the girls they could take a turn bathing in it. In the end we decided to make it a "Spa Night," complete with bath salts, finger/toenail painting, and a movie! Boy do we love being girls!

*Don't let the color of the bath water scare you...we used LOTS and LOTS of yellow bath salts!

FebRUARy

I usually loathe February. After the hub bub of the holidays dies down and there is nothing but cold weather and work/school days so February draaaaaaaaaaaaags on!
But there have been some brights spots that have actually made this February not so bad!
A New 4-Wheeler
We have come to love four wheeling, especially at the cabin, and with 3 (almost 4) rugrats riding on the back we decided it was time for Kylie to start riding her own. So Kody bought this little Sportsman 90 off ksl. It is the perfect size.
Kylie is really learning how to manuever around...she should be ready to hit the trails come spring!

New 'Do's
We decided it was time for some new hair do's for the girls. Mallory really hadn't ever had her cut so we went short to really even the length out. She looks so sweet. Tessa we went with an A-line...sassy just like her. We just cut a couple inches of Kylie's to keep it healthy and avoid some of the tangles. They all look so cute thanks to our favorite aunt and hairdresser Amy.
A New Washer
Our washer bit the dust and started not spinning out the wash. We had it the 8 years we have been in the house but I'm guessing it was about 4 years older than that. We were worried that a front loading washers might have seal issues so we went with a top loader. The girls were so entertained washing the first cycle.
Valentine's Day
We made and baked holiday cookies...not from scratch but we did it!The girls loved the bears and box of chocolates their dad left for them!

Luckily we went out to dinner (Prime Rib and Bacon Wrapped Tenderloin at the Timebermine...yum!)on Saturday because on Tuesday Kody was sick...but not too sick to bring me home these beautiful flowers.

So you see with enough "New's" and "Love" February isn't half bad!

Tiles, tiles, and more tiles

Mold! I had been fighting mold in our shower ever since we bought our house almost eight years ago. We used the fan when we showered but still I found myself srubbing it with bleach about every week. We even tried stripping and re-caulking the seems...nothing worked.
Right before Christmas Kody decided he would once again re-caulk the shower...instead he started to dismantle the shower. I was a little un-nerved at first because I like a little notice before these major remodeling projects but when we found mold under the floor of the shower I knew it had to be done.
Demolishing the old shower with glass and cultured marble was quite a feat. Then he had to put in new hardibacker and poor a new floor with liner. It seemed a lot of our nights and weekends were filled with concrete, mortar, tiles, and grout. We worked hard but it seemed that there was always more to do.

Last week we finally completed the project and are very pleased with the results. I will never look at the *tile the same way.

*we actually used Tavertine, but it's hard to say that three times fast :)

Dad's and Doughnuts

Kylie's school had their annual Dad's and Doughnuts Night. Kylie was so excited to take Kody. This year it was a bird show put on by Tracy Aviary.

They loved seeing the birds, especially the vulture, before grabbing their doughnuts and heading home!
