Sweet Grandma Ruth

My sweet Grandma passed away January 18th just two days shy of her 91st birthday.
My grandma had been active all of her life and was there for many of the special times in my life. My wedding, graduations...
And after the birth of all 3 of my girls.

She was smart, classy, kind, and a lot of fun!

We loved taking the great grandkids up to her house on Halloween to show off their Halloween costumes, and spending the holidays were her.
She was a fun grandma and a good sport. Posing for many a riduculous picture with a smile and shake of her heading saying "Oh you kids."

In her 90 years she accomplished much. Just a few things of note:
  • She was Student Body President Officer and Class Valedictorian
  • She graduated from Utah State University
  • She served three missions with my grandpa; New England States and Canada Mission, Boston, Massachusetts, and Sofia, Bulgaria
  • She gardened, crocheted, sewed, and knew how to stretch a dollar
  • She had 48 grandchildren and 91 great grandchildren (with 6 on the way)

My grandma was a great example of service, love of family, and testimony of Jesus Christ. I love her, miss her and am so glad she is back with her sweetheart :)

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails...

I had my second doctor appointment Friday the 13th. I was 16 weeks and hoping to find out the sex of the baby.

Hoping to kill two bird with one stone I also set up a hair appointment with my sister Amy at her salon right after. I was going to be gone about 5 hours so I told Kody I would take one of the girls with me. At first I was thinking about taking Mallory but Tessa was having a hard day so at the last minute I decided I better take her instead…what a good decision.

She felt so important riding up with me and waiting in the waiting room. When we got in the room Dr. Bierer came in and started the ultrasound. He started about by measuring the baby and checking out the heart. With each thing he checked Tessa would say, “Yep, it’s a boy.” We just laughed and then finally Dr. Bierer got down to business and started imaging to find out the sex. He confirmed indeed it was “definitely a boy,” and Tessa shouted, “I knew it!!!”

I had plans to find out and then do something really special but having Tessa with me kind of put a kink in the works. Tessa is not good at keeping secrets…especially a secret this big and exciting! So after our trip to the Salon we bought a cake and put blue sprinkles on it and wrote the words, “It’s a Boy!”

When we got home we had Kylie, Mallory and Dad sit at the table and close their eyes. When they opened their eyes they had a big surprise!

Just Like Riding a Bike

There were a few days in January when the temperature was in the 40's. We decided to get on our coats and do a little bike riding.
Kylie and Tessa picked right up where they left off last fall.
And Mallory did great for her first time on a bike...her new pink bike that Santa brought at Christmas!

2012

We had a wonderful New Years up at the cabin at Bear Lake. Everyone was able to come up and we had a great time eating, chatting, and playing.
New Years Eve the adults went to the Bear Trapper Steak House for their all you can eat shrimp and crab dinner. All 18 of us fit in thist huge booth and had the time of our lives eating steak, shrimp and spraying crab juice all over! I wish I had a picture...it was such a fun night.
After the dinner it was time to head back to the kids help them celebrate. The sparkling cide and tiny plastic shot glasses were a hit. They loved watching the fireworks out the window and shooting off poppers!

ChRiStMaS!

Christmas was great this year! We woke up the girls early to see the presents Santa had brought, ate some breakfast and then it was off to 9:00 church.
After church it was back home to open the presents under the tree and to play with our Santa gifts some more.
Kylie's favorite gifts were: her tablet, telescope, Justin Bieber shirt and sewing kit.

Tessa's favorite gifts were: her doll, Ipod, snow globe and baby stuff for her dollhouse.

Mallory's favorite gifts were: her dress-ups, bike, pink computer and doll with shopping cart.

Dad's favorite gifts were: his belt, new clothes and spending time with his girls.

Mom's favorite gifts were: her new black boots, shoes, jewelry and getting to sleep in over the break :)!
