9 Months Old

I can't believe our Mallory Jane is 9 months old...because she looks more like a 6 month old. She is 27 1/2 " long (50%) and 15 lb 9 oz (10%).
She is just a little thing content to do things at her own pace. No teeth and no crawling, but she is sitting up, babbling, and wiggling all over the place. She loves her baby food and "treats." We love this sweet little thing with the happy smile!

Rinse, Spit, Repeat!

This month Kylie went to the dentist for the first time. We go to this great dentist whose space looks like a little cottage. Kylie was so excited (and a little nervous).

She did a great job with her cleaning. In fact she kept her mouth opened the "whole time" and only nodded to answer questions (guess mom should have told her she could close her mouth). She was very focused and it paid off...No Cavities!

She loves her new pink toothbrush with tongue scraper and it really intent on brushing her teeth 'til they "sparkle" each night!

Momma's Takin' Us...

To the Zoo Tomorro!
There was NO SCHOOL on Monday. With temperatures in the high 50's we decided it would be the prefect day to visit the zoo.

First we saw the elephants.

The big fake one and the "real" ones. Recently one of the Mommy Elephants had a baby girl elephant named Zuki. We watched her feed and then sleep...just like our baby! Zuki weighed 251 lbs at birth. So glad I didn't carry THAT baby!Next were the giraffes...yet another baby! Do all babies in human and animal form look adorable?
YES! Just take a look at my little monkey!

The day was perfect. Most of the animals were out and active and with few visitors we were able to get pictures taken at some of our favorite spots!

My girls are really growing up...roughly the size of juvenile chimps!
We loved the carousel and the train!

And we could hardly tear ourselves away from the play land!

It was a GREAT Day!

Whenever I See a Heart Shaped Pizza...

During my high school years I never had a boyfriend on Valentine's Day... so when I met my Kody in the Fall of 2000 at USU I was so excited to finally celebrate that special day with...well, someone special. In the morning I kidnapped him for a romantic breakfast picnic on the floor of my apartment.
Then while he was at school I decorated his bedroom with balloons, pictures and signs. AND spent my precious food money on a Utah State shirt.

After our classes were finished I met him at his apartment. He bought me chocolates, roses, made me a mixed cd. For dinner we shared a lovely Papa Murphy's heart-shaped pizza. I was a little disappointed to not be take out to 1 of the 3 acceptable restaurants in Logan.
After our dinner Kody took me engagement ring shopping!
Our Valentine's Days have change dramatically over the last 9 years, but to this day, whenever I see a heart-shaped pizza I think of my first "real" valentine's day!

It's All Good!

So as many of you know I am a preschool teacher. I absolutely love being able to stay at home with my girls AND teach! I love to be creative and interact with little kids. Some days are harder than others. Some days there are tantrums, "accidents," vomit, and being coughed on. Some days I feel like I say the words "sit down, "Look right here, " and "hands out of our mouths and noses" a hundred times!
Then there are time when I get things like this:

and it's all good!
P.S. I think Cami did an excellent job of capturing how slim my legs would look should I choose to wear a 1960' mini skirt while teaching. I'll let you guess which one is Cami...(hint: when you're cool the sun is ALWAYS shinin')

Feliz día de San Valentín

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I thought I would share with you a tale from my youth.
It was the night before Valentine's Day and I didn't have any Valentine's. Mom was busy. Can't remember if she had just had a baby, a stake calling or both. So she sent me with my Dad to get some valentine's. We live about 3 blocks from an Albertsons but my Dad instead took me to some store in the ghetto (down by my future middle school, Central) to pick out valentines.
Can't remember if the store was an Ocsco, a Rite Aid or what (it's changed names several times).
I found some valentine's with cute little pictures on them, my dad buys them and we head home. At home, I grab my candy hearts and the valentine's with their envelopes (remember when the valentine's came with envelopes and you spent hours choosing the right valentine and candy hearts with the "right" messages?) and get started.
Apparently something goes wrong in this process so I take a valentine into my mom and ask... What does "Te amo con todo mi corazón?" mean. Not sure of the phrase or my butchering of it but I am sure that my mom's reaction...it was not a happy one.
Ogden circa 1987 was VERY different than Ogden today in many ways...namely, no hispanic children in my school.
Long story short..or at least shorter..my mom got me new valentines, and saved me from many puzzled stares.
My dad would argue his choice in valentine's was just a little ahead of his time!
