"Generous"....that's how Mallry's tonsils have always been described. That coupled with a hard time breathing, slepp apnea, and snoring finally helped us decide it was time to take those things out!
We went to the IHC outpatient clinic in Riverton. We thought this Lorax tree in the lobby was pretty sweet!
We took off our new hello kitty nightgown and traded it for our "hospital 'jamas and socks."
We chose a scent for our sleepy mask, got our operation doll and took a pre-operation selfie before saying goodbye. This experience was kind of different. Our nephew Jedd just had brain surgery the day before and I couldn't help but think how different my brother and sister-in-laws experience was from ours. I can't imagine watching my child go behind those doors and waiting 9 hours while surgeons worked on a tumor on his brain. I got a little scared when our 20 minutes passed and they said they were having a little bit of trouble waking her up...but not two minutes later they said she was awake.
She was a little groggy and her tongue and the side of her mouth hurt where they had to keep her mouth open but she didn't even cry. She drank her rootbeer slushy and we watched a little bit of a movie before they let us go home.
We kept up on her pain meds for 10 days and she did great all 10 days. Some mornings when the medicine wore off overnight her throat would be a little sore but in general everything went as smoothly as possible!
