In February Kylie joined the school choir. Every Monday and Wednesday she had to get up
early…7:00 am and then Kody would drive her to school. They had their end of year choir concert this
month and it was VERY good. I got a heads up from another mom that there are
never enough seats so when I took Kylie down for the pre-recital practice at
5:00 I stayed and saved seats. It is a
good thing too because when grandma and grandpa arrived at 6:00 (a full half
hour before the start time) all the seats were taken and there were a good 20
people standing in back. The choir
sounded so good warming up that my mom and dad thought it was the high school
choir. Some of the notable songs they
sang were: Ode to Joy, Old Dan Tucker, and Seize the Day (from Newsies). I tried to listen and enjoy it but we brought
the kids and I forgot to brink Baylor’s snacks and I had to try to appease him
for an hour on tiny pieces from 4 sticks of gum. Also he found a cookie on the floor and I just let him eat it because I knew he would scream if I took it any...not my proudest mom moment but we made it through. It was so nice of my parents to drive down to
see it. After we went to Tucanos to
finally celebrate my birthday, Kylie's choir performance (and mother’s day) with a nice meal.

Mallory's Preschool Birthday
It was Mallory's "Preschool Birthday" in May. She colored and we filled out her All About Me Poster to share with the class. Then we read her favorite book (that is really just a pretty book we had only read one time before) entitled "My Little Pony Pinkie Pie's Pretty Hair Day." Then we served the class her favorite things: those little cheese and sticks things, rootbeer, and ring pops!

This Is the Place...for a Great Fieldtrip
I was excited that one of Kylie's fieldtrips finally fell on a Friday so I could chaperone. We traveled on the bus to This is The Place Heritage Park.

The day started out rainy and a little chilly, but soon the rain stopped and the temperatures weren't too cold.

Our first stop was at the Blacksmith Shop. This guy was great giving the kids a lesson on economics and even chemistry.
He made a flint and still and Mrs. Clark got a spark on her first try!
Our next stop was at the school house where we got a little taste of education in 1847. The kids loved it when one of their classmates had to stand with their nose against a wall and wear a Dunce cap. My favorite thing was learning about Deseret short hand. With all the different dialects and languages in the state Brigham Young came up with a short hand so that all words were spelled phonetically.
They also loved the handcart pull....well maybe LOVE is a strong word. With the girls steering and the boys being the brakes there was a lot of hollering and bossing around.
Our last activity at the park was a ride on the train. The minute we got off the train the wind picked up and we were caught in a torrential douwnpour as we all ran to the bus. I really wished I had taken a picture of us looking like drowned rats! It made us really appreciate that the pioneers traveled and slept out in weather like that.
This Boy
You see them on Facebook and Twitter but did you know "Selfies" can also be a toddler calming tool? I discovered this one day when Baylor was fussing during our preschool community helper presentation. Even though they are a little blurry I love that these pictures capture this boy's cute toothy grin
Grandma's Birthday
Usually Easter and Conference fall on this lady's birthday weekend making in a crazy sunday. But this year we managed to pull off a nice Sunday Dinner with some delicious cake. We hope she enjoyed the new clothes and new (non-flip) phone. Welcome to 2014 Mom :)
We are seriously so lucky to have her in our lives. She is a great mom and the funnest grandma around!

Some Bunny Loves Their Cousins!
The girls always love getting together with their cousins. Jon and Brittany were so kind to host our Easter Dinner and grandma helped all the kids make these cute bunnies out of pink hostess snow balls.
