Snow Day...HECK...Snow Weekend!

Late Thursday afternoon it started snowing.  The National Weather Service issued a severe weather warning effective until Saturday afternoon.

Friday school was closed.  The girls really enjoyed their Snow Day eating pancakes and staying in their pajamas making snow forts.

The snow really piled up.
By Saturday we had about 30 inches!
The storm was named "Gandolph" by the National Weather Service.
Saturday the snow finally let up and we had some fun!
Kody helped the girls make a snow cave.

We did some sledding.

We relaxed in what we called "snow chairs."

We decided to make the cave into a tunnel and give it a little pizzaz with some colored water.

We made snow slushies using clean snow and some pina colada snow cone syrup mom had left over from summer.
Then Kody and the two older girls took the ultimate plunge sliding down the large retaining rocks down the side of our house.
Oh how we LOVE the snow...on the weekend!

New Years Eve Day

We decided to get out and have a wonderful New Year's Eve Day!  We went down to the Gateway and let the girls go to Build-a-Bear (a Christmas Gift from Santa).  In all the fun I forgot to take pictures.
At the beginning of December Kylie told me she wanted to get her ears pierced.  I really wanted this to be her choice so I gave her a couple of weeks to make sure she was ready.
So after we went to Build-a-Bear we walked over to Claire's and she took the plunge.  There was only one worker so she had to get each ear pierced separately but after just a few tears he was all smiles again.
Finally, we ended the day with a trip to Wendy's.

It was a wonderful way to end 2012!

Snow is...for Sledding!

Snow is cold. A pain to drive in. A pain to shovel. But when you get the right amount and have enough time it can make an ordinary day extraordinary!
My cousin Jason invited us all to bring our kids and test out the sledding hills by his house.  He was also generous enough to supply us with a place to warm up, eat soup breadsticks, and hot cocoa.
It was pretty cold with high's in the 20's but we bundled up and the sun came out...and we had so much fun!
The hill we chose was just right for the kids.  They could get a little speed going down by themselves, and could walk back up the hill too :)

We went up and down the hill until we couldn't stand up any more and there were tears coming from our eyes :)

Then we opted for some motorized sledding instead!

6 MoNtHs oLd!

I sure wish I could stop this boy from growing up.  I have to be honest that when I found out I was having a boy I was a little nervous. To me boys were dirty loud, and crazy.  And maybe he will be one day but for now he is my calm and happy little buddy!

Here are a few things I want to remember about my little 6 month old:
He loves baths! He looks at the lights smiling and cooing.
He is a pacifier man.  He usually needs it to fall asleep and is pretty content with it in his mouth.  He has the cutest big blue eyes and just the right amount of hair for a faux hawk :)

We started him on baby food this month and he LOVES it...eating the whole jar!

It started snowing outside and he just kept staring outside watching the flakes fall.
He has the cutest smile and his cheeks look adorable when he's sleeping.

He loves to try to talk getting so animated.

He puts up with all the mothering and smothering by his three older sisters who love him so!

At his appointment he was in the 85th %tile at 27 1/2 inches long but his weight had really dropped ( I think because he has been sick) to the 8th %tile at 14 lbs 8 oz.  And he still has a little peanut head in the 5th 5tile.
